The rhythm began at twelve.
Born in 1980 in Zahedan, Iran, Joubin Mahmoudi (Joobin Mahmoodi) began exploring rhythm at age 12 through the Tonbak, Daf, and drum kit. By 13, he was performing professionally and becoming known among musicians in Zahedan and the wider Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Six years of intensive practice and regular collaboration gave him a broad rhythmic vocabulary across Persian traditional music, rock, pop, fusion, and developing metal forms. He relocated to Tehran at 18 to refine that identity and work within a larger, faster-moving professional music community.
Within months, he joined a band performing at prominent hotels on Kish Island. Rehearsal and performance schedules reaching eight hours a day became an important professional apprenticeship, strengthening his endurance, versatility, and ensemble discipline.
Safeer-e Arsh and a changing sound.
After Kish, Mahmoudi accepted an invitation to become the official drummer of the pioneering Progressive Rock ensemble Safeer-e Arsh. The group brought Persian musical elements and cultural motifs into rock, then developed toward Alternative Progressive Metal. Its debut album was released in 2007 through Avaye Barbad Record Company in Tehran.
In parallel, he formed a long-running partnership with Mazda Shahani and joined Shahani's Ahura Band. Their repertoire crossed Rock, Latin, Jazz, Pop, Fusion, and Traditional Persian Folk music. Mahmoudi performed with Ahura at the inaugural post-revolution Pop Music Festival at Tehran's Shahid Avini Hall–Bahman Cultural Center in February 1998.
Across more than 25 years, Mahmoudi and Shahani continued through Ahura, Arta, Daeva Immortals, and Tanin, creating albums, singles, concerts, and projects still in development. Mahmoudi also worked with Amin Habibi, Babak Arjomand, and Mahmoud Arabani on concerts and commercially released recordings.
In June 2005, Avaye Nakisa Co. Recording Company invited him to drum for its GAP Band and accompany contracted vocalists, adding studio and label work to an already extensive performance career.
A wider musical language.
Mahmoudi lived and worked in Turkey during 2001–2002, 2005, and 2009–2012. He learned Turkish rapidly and pursued collaborations in Ankara, Istanbul, Eskişehir, Van, and İzmir, playing drum kit and Daf while expanding his knowledge of Turkish musical traditions.
Across 1992–2026, his career reached more than 4,950 performances, including gigs, concerts, and recording sessions. After relocating to the United States in 2012, he completed fourteen months of advanced study with William E. Elliott, a percussionist and U.S. Army Band drumming instructor. In 2013, Elliott recognized his performance and recording work with a Gold Star Award for Drumming, an Award of Excellence, and a Certificate of Drumming.
The next era.
In February 2018, Drumlite™ recognized Mahmoudi as an Officially Featured Artist. In June of that year, he founded AtarWratH®, bringing Heavy Metal, Aggressive Metal, Extreme Metal, Progressive Metal, Gothic Metal, Country Metal, and Hard Rock into a project established in the Washington, D.C. area and based in Los Angeles.
In 2025, he expanded that creative world as founder, composer, and drummer of DevaWratH® and Hallucinations BLUE®. With collaborators including Bita Sadeghy and Armina Jafari, releases such as “The Mask I Wear,” “The Evil Comes,” “Lost in Wrath,” “Die,” and the 2026 single “LOCRIAN THE INFERNO” carried the projects to a global digital audience.

Building an independent creative legacy.
Mahmoudi is founder, composer, creative lead, and drummer of the MiJou Project, an outlet for his signature blend of Modern Fusion, EDM, and Rock. Its Turkish-language single “Coğrafya” features Bita Sadeghy on lead guitar.
He is also the father and founder of JoubinDrums® Custom Drums and the JoubinDrums® brand, as well as founder of the independent record label and production company JOUBIN PRODUCTIONS [JP]® INC. Across those connected ventures, he works as a drummer, percussionist, composer, producer, and creative director.
Technical discipline beyond the stage.
Alongside music, Mahmoudi has developed a professional path in aviation, corporate management, networking, and cybersecurity. In June 2026, he began serving within the Federal Aviation Administration's Air Traffic Organization at FAA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Following prior study in Network Information Technology, he has pursued Cybersecurity Technology at the University of Maryland Global Campus, earning Dean's List recognition and maintaining a 4.00 GPA as of 2026. His technical preparation includes Cisco CCNA program completion, AWS Academy Cloud Foundations, cloud systems, ethical hacking, and work developed under iMAXCyberTech®.
He fluently speaks, reads, and writes three languages: U.S. English, Persian, and Turkish.
